S&D Group dismayed on alleged US decision to downgrade the diplomatic status of the EU delegation

Following reports that the US has downgraded the diplomatic status of the EU embassy, S&D Group president Udo Bullmann said:
“We are appalled by the alleged US decision to downgrade the diplomatic status of the European Union‘s delegation to the United States. This move, if confirmed, does not only put strain on transatlantic relations that have already suffered severely since Trump took office; it certainly downgrades US global stance and risks to further isolate the US on the world stage.
We support the fight of our Democratic friends in Congress. We will reinforce our joint work for a new strong progressive transatlantic agenda based on mutual respect between allies, multilateralism, and a rule-based international order.”
