An S&D delegation, led by the President of the Group, Gianni Pittella, will participate as international leader guests in the Democratic Convention next week in Philadelphia.
 
The delegation is composed of S&D Vice Presidents Knut Fleckenstein and Tanja, European Parliament Vice-Chair for relations with the US Jeppe Kofod and S&D Secretary General Javier Moreno. The delegation will take part to the Convention in support of our sister party and the Democratic candidate for the US Presidency, Hillary Clinton.
 
At difficult times for Europe, America and the world, strengthening of the progressive family across the Atlantic is key.
 
As well as attending the Convention, the Delegation will meet with Democratic Party representatives and Trade Union leaders, among others. President Pittella will also take part in the International Leaders Forum and in the “EU-US relations: Regional & Global Challenges for the Next US Administration and Congress’ panel” in the framework of the Convention events.
 
A bilateral meeting in New York with the UN Secretary General is also scheduled.
