BRUSSELS, October 24, 2008 – FEDIOL, the EU Vegetable Oil and Protein Meal
Industry Association, announced today its formal resignation from the C.I.A.A.
(Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the EU).

FEDIOL cited a divergence of views with C.I.A.A. related to its proposed new
“Governance” which undermines the role of sector representatives to the benefit of a small number of multi-national corporations and national associations. The decision was unanimously supported by FEDIOL’s Board of Directors.

As a leader in the European agribusiness sector, FEDIOL will continue to maintain an active position on EU and national agriculture-related policy issues including nutrition, biofuels, pesticides, trade, sustainability, and other important topics.
FEDIOL is the federation representing the European vegetable oil and protein meal industry. Its members include the oilseed crushers and oil processors covering 90% of the EU oils and meals production.
