"Patenting of Biotechnical Inventions"

Tuesday 11 January 2010 at 09.30hrs

Press Room (PHS 0A50) of the European Parliament, Brussels

The European Directive on the Patenting of Biotechnological Inventions is currently being challenged before the European Court of Justice (ECJ). The focus of the challenge relates to a claim on embryonic stem cells. On January 12, the ECJ will conduct its oral procedure. The European Parliament has already adopted a very clear resolution on its view of how to interpret the Directive.
MEPs and the Plaintiff of the current legal procedure will discuss the issue in more detail.
