Sally Low, Managing Director of Low Associates (LA), announced today that they had won the European Commission’s two million euro contract to handle the European Enterprise Promotion Awards; the SME Assembly; and SME Week for 2014 & 2015. Low Associates, who led the bid, will serve as joint contractor with Hanover Communications. LA will provide the strategic comms direction; event management and secretariat; while Hanover will manage the promotional programme, including all media handling and social media.

This is the third EC win in a row for the LA/Hanover team. Earlier last year they won an extension contract for the European SME Week 2013; and another to manage the European Business Awards for the Environment. “It’s very pleasing for an SME like us to win such prestigious contracts from the Commission, especially as we were up against some very tough pan-European competition from much larger companies” said Sally Low. “This success will drive our plans to expand our operations into Africa and the Middle East using our new subsidiary, ChamberExpertise.”

Low Associates has also promoted EU policy expert Karen Clements (former Head of European Affairs at the CBI) to Deputy Managing Director to help drive this expansion.

“We are constantly looking for talented and creative senior specialists who want to work for themselves, but also like the idea of joining our community of like-minded Associates. Karen is a perfect example of someone who has held senior positions in large organisations, but now wants to try a very different, a twenty-first century way of working.”

Notes for Editors

·         Low Associates was founded by Sally Low (former Director of Policy & External Affairs at the British Chambers of Commerce; and Chief of Staff to Theresa May) in 2009 with her business partner Brendan Bruce (one of Margaret Thatcher’s spin doctors) to provide international clients with:

  • Marketing, Strategic and Crisis Comms
  • Speechwriting & Copywriting
  • Media Coaching
  • Event Management
  • Design Policy
  • Market Research.

·         LA was created using the concept of ‘a community of experienced specialists’ who have occupied senior positions in their field of expertise. They join as Associates, but can continue non-conflicting work on their other projects. A custom-built team is created for each contract from this bank of experts. Although LA does work with some selected UK-based clients, its core strategy is to attract business primarily from clients who have pan-national projects in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

·         ChamberExpertise was set up in 2013 with Peter Ralphs (former Chief Executive of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce) as Managing Director to bring the expertise of former senior managers of UK Chambers of Commerce to internationally-based chambers seeking world-class standards.
