Marek Retelski appointed Head of TIR Department

Geneva - As part of a strengthening of the IRU and a consequent adjustment to its TIR Department to meet the numerous challenges in the coming years, IRU Secretary General, Martin MARMY, announced the appointment of Mr Marek RETELSKI as Head of the TIR Department as from 11 January 2010.

Holder of a Master of Law Degree, Marek RETELSKI has already filled various positions within the IRU TIR Department between 2001 and 2008, in particular as Head of the TIR Claims and Legal Affairs Department, then as Deputy Head of the TIR Department.

He more recently successfully applied his talents with a multinational firm engaged in the humanitarian field in a hundred countries in Asia and Africa.

Mr RETELSKI is taking over from Mr Jean ACRI, who will henceforth assume the position of Special TIR Advisor - Legal Affairs and Customs Policy for all major legal and strategic issues, arising in particular from the growing dynamism of IRU partner regional organisations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), the League of Arab States (LAS), the Eastern Partnership, etc.
