Industrial Valve Summit: Made in Italy excellence exhibits in Bergamo

May 19th 2015, Milan – IVS - Industrial Valve Summit seems to be a large number first edition, the new international event dedicated to the entire supply chain of industrial valves, taking place in Bergamo on the 27th – 28th of May 2015 and launched today with the Press Conference at the headquarters of Assolombarda in Milan. The official opening of the event will be on Tuesday 26th of May, with an Opening Ceremony that will see the participation of institutional representatives of the highest level.
 
Over 100 companies confirmed their participation at the fair, with more than 6,000 square meters of occupied floor space. Thanks to the confirmations received from some of the leading companies in the sector, IVS - Industrial Valve Summit will bring to Bergamo the most important representatives of the industrial valves and flow control solutions supply chain.
 
The decision to organize the new exhibition in Bergamo has been also successful, due to geographical proximity to one of the most important valve manufacturing centers worldwide. With more than 10,000 employees, the industrial valves’ supply chain is a real highlight for the Italian manufacturing industry.
 
INDUSTRIAL VALVES: THE ITALIAN EXCELLENCE RECOGNIZED WORLDWIDE 
 
At a global level, the industrial valves and flow control solutions sector is still living in a positive trend: in 2013 a growth of the 3% has been registered for a business turnover of 55 billion dollars. In this context of growth, our Country occupies leading role. Infact, Italy the 2nd exporter worldwide for industrial valves (after China), with an export of 7,8 billion dollars and a market share of the 14%.
 
Going specifically in the Oil&Gas  sector, Italy has leading role both for the production and export point of view. There are more than 100 active companies in this specific sector, whereof about the 60% is of Italian ownership and the remaining belonging to International groups. 
 
The first 50 companies specialized in the valve production for Oil&Gas sector register a turnover of 3,1 billion euros. There are 39 companies, part of this group, with the headquarter in Lombardy, generating the 80% of the total turnover, with a 2,5 billion euros of export.
 
In Lombardy operate the most important companies in the global supply chain of industrial valves: shapers , manufacturers of actuators , seals , sealing systems , coatings and flow control solutions.
 
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
 
During IVS will take place the International Conference, which will see the presentation of 48 technical and scientific papers of high innovation by valve supply chain leading companies, research bodies, universities and standards bodies, with over 60% of speakers with an international background
 
The final program of the Conference includes 12 sessions, divided into four main themes of the Congress: design , safety , materials and surface treatments ; drive systems , control and communications ; performance of sealing systems ; standards and qualifications.
The fifth theme Business and Management will be the focus of two round tables : Mergers and acquisitions in valve industry on May 27th  and Global sourcing in the changing energy industry on May 28th.
 
VALVECAMPUS FOT TRAINING 
 
On the occasion of the Press Conference was presented the association VALVEcampus, promoted by a group of entrepreneurs in collaboration with Confindustria Bergamo and  University of Bergamo.
 
From May 25th till May 28th, in parallel with the IVS 2015 event, VALVECampus will present its first multidisciplinary set of training courses, specifically developed by the Valve Industry stakeholders to raise the skill levels of key personnel involved in the entire valve chain supply. Courses are particularly tailored for engineers specifying, purchasing, maintaining industrial valves used, worldwide, in a variety types of processes and will be particularly dedicated to End Users, EPCs, Valve Distributors and Valve Automation Centers. 
 
The courses will be held at Bergamo University – Engineering Department, in close cooperation with the Manufacturers’ Association “VALVE Campus”, recently created by leading manufacturers of valves, main valve components, sealing elements and educational institutions. Activities will mix training in class and field visits at forging shops, valve manufacturing plants and valve parts’ manufacturers to allow participants to integrate training with hands-on experience. 
 
Lecturers have been selected from local universities and from a dedicated group of known experts coming from various companies or institutions (e.g. valves manufacturers, components makers, actuators, elastomers and packing, inspection and certification notified bodies, universities) with experience in the training activities.
