COGEN Europe is pleased to announce that Italian company Gruppo AB has recently joined its expanding Europe-wide network. Gruppo AB, a European combined heat and power (CHP) system manufacturer founded in 1981, is headquartered in Orzinuovi, Italy and also has operations in Poland, Spain, Romania, Croatia, the Netherlands, Austria, Serbia, Canada and Brazil. To date it has built over 500 plants amounting to some 800 MWe of installed power.

Gruppo AB President and Founder Angelo Baronchelli said “energy efficiency is an increasingly more decisive factor for making companies competitive. Responsibility towards the environment has become an integral part of ‘intelligent’ marketing: in this scenario, cogeneration represents a strategic opportunity for any kind of energy-demanding industry. The common vision of COGEN Europe and AB – and effective networking – will enable us to underline the benefits of cogeneration, to share research and knowledge, to work closer with policymakers at European level and to contribute to the development of the cogeneration market in Europe”.

Applications of cogeneration range from very large industrial processes through to individual households and the tertiary sector, including with capacities of less than 1 kW up to hundreds of Megawatts. The recent membership of Gruppo AB highlights the growing opportunity for cogeneration as a low-carbon, onsite technology in the industrial and biogas ranges of application.

Representing a wide diversity of companies from large industrial users, equipment manufacturers to small and micro-CHP companies, COGEN Europe is the voice of the European cogeneration sector. With a network that includes key contacts in Brussels and throughout Europe, the association is best positioned to represent all those involved in cogeneration.
