FoodDrinkEurope publishes 2011 Annual Report

(Brussels, 13 June) FoodDrinkEurope, the European representative body of the food and drink industry has published its 2011 Annual Report.

2011 was a challenging year for Europe as a whole. In spite of tough times, the food and drink industry, the largest manufacturing sector in Europe managed to achieve positive results. This year’s annual report details FoodDrinkEurope’s activities in 2011 on competitiveness, diet and nutrition, food safety and science and environmental sustainability.

In working towards remaining competitive and to help accelerate Europe’s 2020 goals for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, key achievements include;

• Embarking on a new era with a new visual identity

• FoodDrinkEurope Principles in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility

• Agreement on Principles of Good Practice to Ensure Fairer Business Relations

• The establishment of a European Social Dialogue in the Food and Drink Industry

In 2012, FoodDrinkEurope continues to collaborate with stakeholders and remain true to its mission of providing Europe’s 500 million consumers with safe, nutritious and affordable food and drink products every day – whilst maximising its ability to unlock key growth opportunities and feed Europe’s economic recovery.
