Brussels, 12 December 2022 – Today, marks the launch of a new dedicated website focusing exclusively on vegetable oils and fats with the aim of outlining their health and nutritional aspects. Designed to inform, the website contains easy, updated, and detailed information, about vegetable oils and fats: their characteristics, their role in healthy diets, their EU labelling, their health benefits, and other useful information enabling improved food consumption choices. It also contains a section on how vegetable oils and fats are perceived in national and international dietary guidelines.

This is one of the numerous FEDIOL actions to implement the EU Code of Conduct on responsible food business and marketing practices, launched by the European Commission under the European Green Deal and signed up by FEDIOL in June 2021.

FEDIOL remains committed to keep this new informative tool up-to-date and continues its efforts to meet and implement the strategic objectives subscribed in the EU Code of Conduct.

The new website is accessible here: www.vegetableoils.eu

FEDIOL represents the interests of the European vegetable oil and protein meal industry. With over 180 facilities in Europe, the sector provides over 20.000 direct employments. Our members process approximately 55 million tonnes of basic products a year for the food and non-food markets. Oilseed crushing produces vegetable oils and protein meals as co-products. While vegetable oils are used for food and technical uses (pharmaceuticals, paints, detergents, biodiesel, etc.), protein meals are used to meet the increasing global demand for meat and protein.
