ESMIG and 26 member companies promoted Smart Metering revolution at Amsterdam expo.

Brussels – 18 October 2013 ESMIG, the European Smart Metering Industry Group, along with dozens of its member companies met delegates at European Utility Week, which opened at the RAI Center, Amsterdam, between 15-17 October 2013. ESMIG exhibited on stand 1.D04 as well as chaired a conference and participated in a range of promotional and consultative events. ESMIG welcomed visitors to meet its team.

European Utility Week 2013 (EUW) is the new brand uniting three previous events under one single banner: Metering, Billing/CRM Europe, Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids Europe and Smart Homes. This year’s event covered all major value streams stretching from transmission to the end-user, incorporating renewable integration and storage solutions, grid security and smart cities into the conference programme and the exhibition.

Senior ESMIG representatives delivered the Group’s core messages – that Europe’s relevant authorities, companies and industries have a key role to play in the deployment of Smart Metering technologies in each of the 28 Member States of the EU and achieving maximum benefit from these technologies for consumers, utilities and the environment.

Willem Strabbing, Managing Director of ESMIG, chaired the Tuesday afternoon conference session: Smart Metering – Where Do We Stand?, including a presentation by Frank Hyldmar, ESMIG’s President, on developing a sound business model. Thursday’s morning conference on Grid Security – Privacy and Security for ICT/DATA Infrastructures – featured a presentation by Thomas Weisshaupt, Chair of ESMIG’s Security and Privacy working group, on harmonisation of security and privacy approaches in Europe.
