Brussels, 20 September 2013: DIGITALEUROPE welcomes the initialling of the trade agreement between Singapore and the EU. It is a welcome step towards the reduction and elimination of both tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade.
John Higgins, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE commented; “We congratulate the European Commis

sion on this important achievement. This FTA will be valuable in its own right and should also encourage further trade liberalisation as other countries of the Asia-Pacific region follow Singapore down the same route. Many FTA negotiations are under way with members of ASEAN and we hope to see a number of them signed in the near future.”

DIGITALEUROPE is committed to improve the framework conditions for global trade in high-tech products and services. The association promotes free, balanced and open trade. Such trade encourages innovation and delivers efficiency through productivity gains and the free flow of ideas. It underpins our industry’s ability to help meet Europe’s economic and social challenges.
