171 Members of the European Parliament call for a fair trial for Mumia Abu-Jamal

On behalf of the initiators of the Written Declaration on the Abolition of the Death Penalty and the Case of Mumia Abu-Jamal, Søren Søndergaard (Denmark) and Sabine Lösing (Germany) delivered the Declaration to the US Embassy in Brussels this afternoon.

Sabine Lösing: "We wanted to draw their attention to the fact that 171 Members of the European Parliament from all political groups have signed this declaration asking for the abolition of the Death Penalty and a fair trial for Mumia Abu-Jamal, an Afro-American journalist who has been on death row since 1982 following an unfair and racially-motivated trial."

Søren Søndergaard: "The Members of the EU-Parliament have sent a strong signal to the American Administration to abolish the death penalty and to ensure a fair trial for Mumia Abu-Jamal. I urge them to listen."
