The digital conference 'Climate Science from Space: Synergies for a greener innovation economy', is promoted on the 21st and 22nd of April under the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) and aims to contribute to the European Green Deal and to a transition towards a greener and climate resilient society and economy.
Organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education with the support of the European Commission, the conference aims to contribute to the ongoing debate on space data collection and climate ecosystems, and the direct impact on the environment and the economy.
Opened by the European Commissioner for Innovation, Marya Gabriel and the Portuguese Minister for Science, Manuel Heitor, the debate brings together policy makers, stakeholders from international organisations, academia, large industries, SMEs, research centres and civil society, with the aim of encouraging an open debate on climate action and space-related activities.
This will also be an excellent opportunity to present and share national and European policies, initiatives and projects on the topic, as well as how these fit in with initiatives and practices that are being implemented in the rest of the world.
With free registration, the conference also counts with representatives from the European Commission, National Innovation Agency, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Portuguese Space Agency, European Space Agency, Penn State University, University of S. Paulo, Ciência Viva, among others.
