ChargeUp Europe has appointed Lucie Mattera as its first Secretary General to meet the needs of its expanding membership and the growing sector.

Since its launch in early 2020, ChargeUp Europe has grown to 24 members, 3 knowledge partners and 5 ecosystem partners, working together to decarbonize road transport and meet the EU’s climate targets by accelerating the rollout of EV charging infrastructure and enabling seamless charging for drivers across the EU.

According to ChargeUp Europe’s President, Mathieu Bonnet:

“The charging industry is growing and maturing rapidly through the emergence of new companies, technologies, business models and governance rules and regulatory needs. ChargeUp as an association is growing equally fast, and we are proud to announce the appointment of our first Secretary General, Lucie Mattera. She is an accomplished EU policy leader and regulatory specialist, with whom we look forward to working to further shape our industry and placing our sector at the heart of the EU energy transition.”

Lucie Mattera will help steer ChargeUp Europe to the next phase of its development. She has direct work experience with three EU institutions, as well as leadership experience in trade and green associations.

Commenting on her appointment, Lucie Mattera said: “The electric vehicle charging infrastructure industry is a young, fast-developing sector. I look forward to engaging in EU policy processes to create a vibrant and uniform market for electric vehicle charging across all EU countries, supporting the decarbonization of the transport sector in Europe.”

Did you know? By 2030, in Europe:  

• The charging market workforce will increase by +254 %; 
• The total stock of charging points will increase from about 3 million today to close  to 30 million; 
• Investments into charging infrastructure will grow from €5 billion in 2021 to over  €15 billion.
