CEEP strongly welcomes the consultation on the EU 2020 strategy initiated by the Commission and supports the idea that only through partnership at all levels Europe’s future
can be built: “To base the European roadmap on a consultation process will hopefully increase the sense of ownership that has often lacked in the implementation of the Lisbon Strategy”, said Ralf Resch, General Secretary of CEEP. Conscious of this need, CEEP will initiate a consultation as wide as possible of its members that will form the answer of providers of Services of General Interest and public service employers to the working
document.

“CEEP will call for the new strategy to be built on lessons we are learning from the present crisis”, Ralf Resch specified. In this regard, “It means that the central role played by public service providers in overcoming the crisis has to be recognised at all levels. Our services will
continue to be performing as the infrastructure for private business prosperity. Therefore we need stable and sustainable framework conditions under which we will be able to keep that role”.
