“CEEP is glad that the EU 2020 strategy sets the right course of actions, starting from the

need to give a concrete response to the crisis and build on that the strategy for tomorrow”.

“CEEP has always asked to learn from the crisis, and therefore we are glad that this element

is taken into account by the Commissions’ proposal” said Ralf Resch, General Secretary of

CEEP, in a first reaction to the text published today.

The success and effective implementation of each of the three priorities is depending from

effective, sustainable and high quality services of general interest. “You cannot have a

‘smart, sustainable and inclusive growth’ without functioning and high performing education

systems, adequate and efficient energy infrastructures or sustainable healthcare and social

services”, Ralf Resch explained.

Public services employers are therefore the key to successful implementation of the strategy

and will strive to make this reality a part of it. In this light, CEEP members will continue to

support the Commission, Council and Parliament to accomplish the strategy successfully
