“CEEP: Public employers in Europe call on the Belgian Presidency to move Europe 2020  Strategy forward”.

This was one of the key messages that Ralf Resch, General Secretary of CEEP, presented at the social Troika meeting today in Brussels, at the eve of the informal Council of the European Ministers of Employment and Social Security.

This meeting was devoted to the Europe 2020 Strategy as well as discussions about

employment. Mr Resch stated further that “Effective public services provide an important

infrastructure for private business development and citizen’s quality of life. Therefore,

fostering their capacity to innovate and modernise should be high on the agenda in

forthcoming years”.

During the meeting Mr Resch also took the opportunity to highlight two of the main

challenges facing European societies: demographic change and greening of the economy.

He declared that CEEP members are in the forefront to cope with these challenges.
