Next Wednesday 25th of November from 17:00 to 19:00 as part of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) will be presented the CD-Clean COVID-19 New Disinfection Formulation project funded by the COVID-19 call launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology Urban Mobility (EIT Urban Mobility). This was one of the 11 projects approved by this prestigious institute in the extraordinary call for proposals for EUR 5 million against the virus. CD-Clean COVID-19 new disinfection formulation is an innovative, environmental, scalable and inspiring solution for mobility infrastructures such as bus, metro, airport and train stations.

Waste reduction is an emergency for the European Union. For this reason, every November the EWWR celebrates actions and campaigns that raise citizens' awareness of the importance of waste prevention and reduction.  Promoted by European local and regional authorities, it brings together all kinds of actors (citizens, schools, businesses, NGOs, associations) to organise activities to understand the importance of sustainable waste management. Previously, the CD-Clean COVID-19 new disinfection formulation project made a successful official presentation at the European Green Week. This time its goal is to present to what extent the application of this aqueous solution with maximum antiseptic effect for the disinfection and protection of surfaces in public spaces would reduce the use of conventional cleaning products, whose chemical residues are concentrated in the waste water and have a negative impact on the environment.

Led by the global corporation Ferrovial, through its subsidiary Ditecpesa, the project involves companies and organisations from Spain, Belgium and Poland such as Ferrovial, Barcelona City Council, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and the Finnova Foundation in Brussels. This powerful partnership, with the support of EIT Urban Mobility, will present the project together with other international speakers who will share their experience in the dissemination of projects and chemical waste management in the COVID-19 era, as well as the European funding tools devoted to scientific research innovations such as CD-Clean COVID-19 new disinfection formulation.

The commitment of the members of this project is both to the health crisis, urban mobility, as well as to the climate emergency. This is why the CD-Clean Urban Mobility COVID19 project is committed to the 2030 Programme for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: 3 (Good Health and Well-being); 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation); 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy); 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth); 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure); 13 (Climate Action) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The webinar "CD-Clean COVID-19 new disinfection formulation: long-lasting and waste reduction solution" will be the right space for all those who celebrate innovation and see moments of crisis as an opportunity for green and sustainable change. Due to the sanitary crisis, there is a massive over- and misuse that provokes several types of waste and chemicals.  In this sense, projects such as CD-Clean COVID-19 new disinfection formulation provide ecological and sustainable alternatives that could replace the use of conventional cleaning products containing harmful chemicals.
