Commenting on the Agriculture Committee vote on the Dess (EPP, Germany) Report on the future of the CAP this afternoon, George Lyon MEP (LibDem, United-Kingdom), ALDE AGRI coordinator said:

“I am glad that the timid 'status quo' initially proposed by the EPP Rapporteur Mr Dess has been broadly avoided today through a committee vote that put more content back into this report, in line with the broad direction set out by the ALDE Group last year and in my own report adopted by Parliament in July 2010.

"From ALDE's point of view, the amended report is a big improvement, with our key priorities included in the text today, paving the way for the latest round of reform

“ALDE will continue to argue that driving competiveness through innovation, further greening of the CAP, and fairer distribution through targeted payments will secure a sustainable future for European agriculture.”
