The British must finally come to their senses

Frankfurt/Brussels – 5.6.2020 – At the end of the fourth round of negotiations on BrexitHolger Kunze, Head of the VDMA European Office, says:
“We are very concerned that the UK and the EU are not making progress in the negotiations for a free trade agreement. A hard Brexit is fast approaching and that is bad news for the European engineering industryand especially for the British economy. It is time that the British Government recognised that access to the European market is only possible if comparable arrangements are in place on both sides of the channel. Particularly in times of major stimulus packages, it would be absurd to impose additional burdens on the already struggling European and British economy with a hard Brexit. We therefore appeal to the common sense of the negotiators to finally find solutions and to make fair, free trade between the EU and Great Britain possible from 2021 onwards. This is now more important than ever. Only in this way can economic recovery succeed."
