Within the PEPSEA Project, ATRAC created, prepared and delivered three different oil spill preparedness and response training course Modules, respectively

1) before the incident situation,

2) situation during the incident and

3) situation after the incident.

Training courses were successfully implemented during the period from February to April 2022 and they were executed in five project pilot locations: Zadar - Sali Bay on Island Dugi Otok, Split - Eastern Kastela Bay, Porto Viro - Parco Delta Po (the Canarin Lagoon and the Caleri Lagoon) and Šibenik - St. Anthony Channel.

All courses included practical training with specific oil spill response equipment, such is as floating booms, skimmers, etc., which purchased in the Project. This part of the training was the most exciting for participants and since this type of equipment did not exist in some project pilot locations presented an added value to the Project.

Training Manuals were created and prepared in three languages: English, Croatian and Italian. They were distributed to course participants. Manuals contain descriptions and explanations of all training presentations and it is safe to say that Manuals will be useful for training participants in their future tasks. 

The numerous participants were enthusiastic and motivated by the course subjects and they created an interaction with the participants. Lectures were respect the local context of the project pilot locations. Among the course topics, ATRAC staff who delivered the courses included personal experiences in similar locations and prevailing conditions.

Major beneficiaries of training courses were members of the County's response centers, firefighting brigades, civil protection members, representatives of Port authorities and Harbourmaster`s offices.
