The 8th edition of the global Prize Ethics & Trust in Finance for a Sustainable Future was officially launched  in June 2020, during an online event, including  two roundtables, which explored the role of ethics and trust in shaping a more sustainable and resilient financial system for the post-pandemic world. ACCA’s chief executive Helen Brand, OBE  took  part in the discussions alongside other prominent speakers.

Helen Brand, OBE, says: “ACCA sees this prize as incredibly important. Having a shared view of ethics and trust across all disciplines in the finance field is incredibly important – it’s only if we all apply ethics to the different segments we work in that the financial systems people rely on for their lives and livelihoods will function sustainably. Younger people in our professions have the benefit looking how companies and organisations are run from a different, fresh perspective – we need to welcome that thinking and innovation in and apply it to how we all behave, as well as to the mechanics of products and business models”.

Since 2006, the Ethics and Trust in Finance for a Sustainable Future Prize offers young candidates from throughout the world - aged 35 or younger and working in or studying finance -  a unique opportunity to reassess the role of financial institutions and in particular how they can provide a meaningful response to the changing needs of the communities in which they operate. Organised by the Observatoire de la finance (based in Geneva), the Prize also encourages candidates to reimagine how financial institutions, together with their stakeholders, can balance the desire for growth, security and stability for the post-pandemic world.

This competition, supported by its strategic partners - CFA Institute; Euroclear; ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants); Swift & Swift Institute; and Pictet Group -  invites creative papers setting out analyses or proposals for innovative ways to promote ethics & trust in finance. The Jury allocates the prize money of USD 20,000 among the winners. To register for the Prize, click here
