The 8th European Innovation Summit: Future Now!

The 8th European Innovation Summit comes at a time of major challenges and opportunities requiring bold decisions. Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things; innovative business models for the sharing economy; disruptive technologies such as autonomous driving or genetic engineering – are some of the big game changers that have a profound impact on the way we live and work. Organized by Knowledge4Innovation, the 4-day event will take place from 14-17 November 2016 in the European Parliament in Brussels.

The 8th EIS will also further elaborate on The Pact for Innovation (INPACT), which was signed and launched by Knowledge4innovation, during the 7th European Innovation Summit. Meanwhile INPACT has been signed by more than 30 Members of the European Parliament and a growing number of innovation stakeholders. INPACT calls on key innovation actors, the European Institutions, regions and member states to work together on eliminating major barriers which prevent turning knowledge into innovation in Europe. An INPACT Stakeholder Signing Ceremony will open the 8th EIS on Monday 14 November 2016 in the European Parliament in Brussels.

Background on the 8th European Innovation Summit:

The 8th European Innovation Summit will provide key-innovation stakeholders with a unique platform to discuss the policies and instrument required to promote innovation in Europe. This year’s debates are organised around five focus areas:

  1. The mid-term review and post 2020 discussions: next Framework Progamme, European Innovation Council, Structural Funds, etc.
  2. People: STEM education, next generation innovators and entrepreneurs
  3. Disruptive technologies and business models
  4. The effect of digitization on society
  5. INPACT - Pact for Innovation

Each bloc will draw attention to the key measures Europe has to take now in order to benefit from the changing innovation landscape. To fulfil its mission to innovate, by drawing on its strong research and growing start-up base Europe must act. Future Now!

The Summit will be covered extensively via social media, thus providing everyone with the possibility to participate in the debates. Please follow us on Twitter (@k4innovation), and join the conversation by using the hashtags #8EIS.
