EurActiv, the leading online media reporting on EU affairs and policy issues, will be running special coverage, from 12 to 16 September, on EU – Ukraine relations. 

From July to August 1990, a series of events sealed the independence of Ukraine from the former Soviet Union. The 20th anniversary of Ukraine's independence coincided with a fresh gas row with Russia and a trial against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

Meanwhile, the EU is still developing a policy stance for Ukraine, and Kyiv is doing the same for Brussels. A summit of the Eastern Partnership, the flagship EU initiative covering Ukraine and five other countries in Europe's East will take place on 29-30 September in Warsaw, under the Polish EU Presidency. 

EurActiv will look at these and other developments in an important week for Ukraine.
