Railways call on EU ministers to avoid the mistakes of the past

In the run up to a meeting of European transport ministers in Brussels on 11 June, Europe’s independent rail infrastructure managers are calling for the development of the European rail freight network to be based on the needs of the market, rather than political horse trading between Member States.

Michael Robson, Secretary General of the association of European Rail Infrastructure Managers (EIM), calls on Ministers when debating the proposed new Freight Regulation, to avoid the pitfalls that have hampered the effective development of the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) network in the past, saying “the industry is expecting a market-orientated and flexible corridor definition, not a list of corridors based on mere political decisions” […]
