AGSI+ welcomes 2 new German Storage System Operators (SSOs):
Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is pleased to welcome EDF Gas Deutschland GmbH and EnBW Etzel Speicher GmbH as data providers on its AGSI+ Transparency Platform. The two compagnies jointly operate a storage facility in Etzel, Germany as Friedeburger Speicherbetriebsgesellschaft mbH Crystal. This additional data on the platform will extend its coverage to 97% of EU27 working gas volume.
Dr Axel Wietfeld, President of Gas Storage Europe (GSE), the European SSO association and hence one column of GIE, commented: “GSE members have decided to jointly develop this common tool, including commercially relevant information for storage users. The aim is to centralise the operational information of underground gas storages, making it accessible to stakeholders and interested parties. This voluntary initiative is particularly relevant in the context of the European Commission’s considerations to rely on the transparency of storage filling rates to ensure that assessment and proper actions are taken if the levels are not sufficient.”
A tool to monitor security of supply in Europe:
Transparency tools are crucial for experts to monitor the energy market evolution. It supports decision-makers and analysts in their work by bringing figures on the reality on the ground. GIE AGSI+ and ALSI Transparency Platforms are proving to be reliable and well-recognised information sources offering a daily reporting by operators of storage and LNG facilities. Over the last 180 days, for instance, the website traffic on GIE Transparency Platforms has increased by 265%.
Close up on GIE’s transparency activities:
For more than 15 years, GIE has worked and innovated to offer the most reliable, efficient and user-friendly transparency instruments. Further platform upgrades providing additional data visualization and export options are to be expected. GIE transparency services are further completed by the implementation of standardised transparency templates by storage system and LNG system operators, yearly map publications (LNG, storage, biogas, etc.) and their associated databases, and specific database content such as the GLE Services Inventory and LNG List of Services.
