Event Description

The FT-ETNO Summit will gather leading policymakers, regulators, industry executives and investors from Europe and beyond to discuss and debate progress towards harmonized TMT rules, and Europe’s role in an ever more connected world.

FULL OVERVIEW

EU integration, the single market, trade and the role of technology in society: shall we take any of this for granted? In the run-up to Europe’s 2019 parliamentary elections, it is time to take stock of the last five years, a period of unprecedented change. The political situation in many European countries is changing, while the UK is set to leave the European Union and the form of EU governance is under intense discussion.

Meanwhile, ultrafast connectivity has become the main infrastructure of all modern economies, with the internet and mobile economy opening up unprecedented opportunities for citizens and industrial sectors. However, with social media impacting society, Big Tech prompting large-scale M&A, and AI raising ethical issues, cyber security threats diminishing trust, TMT is at the centre of policymaking scrutiny.

Looking ahead to the next decade, as 5G and fibre connect industries, how can regulators promote innovation and promote the positive role of technology in empowering society?
The FT-ETNO Summit will gather leading policymakers, regulators, industry executives and investors from Europe and beyond to discuss and debate progress towards harmonized TMT rules, and Europe’s role in an ever more connected world
