Plans for a pan-European grid to cost 1% of consumers' electricity bill

A new 104 billion Euro plan for a pan-European electricity network would cost less than 1% of the consumers' total electricity bill. The plan - drawn up by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) - would bring Europe a step closer to a pan-European grid.

EP Trade Committee ends trade preferences for developing countries

A grand coalition of EPP, S&D and ALDE groups today supported a Commission proposal to end EU tariff preferences for a majority of developing countries. From now on, any country that has a GDP per capita per year of more than $4.000 shall be considered too rich to receive EU generosity.

ACTA: Commission's delaying tactics won't stop the beat

Following the wide-ranging discussions in the European Parliament this week on the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), which has been referred to the EU Court of Justice by the European Commission, German GUE/NGL MEP Helmut Scholz, who is a Member of the Committee on International Trade, said he had no doubt that the debate on ACTA will continue despite the Commission's delaying tactics.
