Economists warn of major uncertainty in eurozone at a EurActiv panel discussion

Fondation EurActiv Politech, in partnership with EurActiv Germany and Allianz, hosted a panel discussion of senior economists from both the private and public sectors yesterday. The talk underscored major challenges and uncertainties for the eurozone economy in the years ahead.

Christophe Leclercq, Founder and Publisher of EurActiv, said the discussion "highlighted two points which I find especially important: one is about balanced growth and the other one about the early warning system regarding macro-economic imbalances."

Accountants read signs of financial stress, stalling growth in latest SME Finance Monitor data

Independent researcher BDRC Continental has released today the latest report of the SME Finance Monitor, the most authoritative record of UK small and medium sized enterprises’ (SMEs) access to finance. ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) finds little comfort in the figures, based on 5,000 interviews with owners and managers of SMEs carried out between October and December 2011.

The Monitor figures paint a picture of falling demand and deleveraging businesses throughout the UK:

Hungary: Commission must keep up pressure on all fronts
