CIAA welcomes the EFSA Opinion (adopted on 13 March 2009) on the ‘Review of labelling reference intake values’. The EFSA Opinion endorses the science underpinning GDAs and reinforces what has been proposed already within the scope of the European Commission Proposal for a Regulation on food information to consumers with regard to the proposed reference values for the GDA labelling scheme.

Bruno Marzloff is a French sociologist whose work focuses on mobility at large going far beyond the question of individual journeys. He reflects on the relationship between new communications technologies, particularly the Internet, and modern mobility.

CECED welcomes a new Vice Director General

Brussels, 15 May 2009: Paolo Falcioni has been appointed Vice Director General of CECED, the European Committee of Domestic Appliance Manufacturers.

He brings almost 20 years of experience with national and international technical and policy-making bodies in the industrial sector to this newly created position. Prior to joining CECED, Mr. Falcioni was the European Affairs Manager for Indesit Company.

Mr. Falcioni, who is Italian, has an Electric Engineering degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Ancona (Italy). He is fluent in Italian and English.

Brussels – The International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the European Transport Workers Federation (ETF), as EU Social Partners for Road Transport, agreed a joint statement including six measures which both organisations insist as a minimum must form part of an urgently needed road transport recovery plan, to be coordinated and realised by the European Commission together with EU Member States.
