26 January 2010, Brussels – Officially launching the International Year of Biodiversity, BirdLife International [1] presented “Biodiversity on the Brink”, a photo exhibition of Europe’s natural wonders. At a well attended event in the European Parliament, guests enjoyed 15 astonishing pictures of European landscapes, animals and human activities, learning more about the threats our nature is facing, but also about the opportunities to save it.

BRUSSELS – ETNO wishes to raise concern about the lack of transparency in the negotiating process, on the eve of a planned negotiation meeting of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) in Mexico on 26 January, and calls for a proper consultation of all stakeholders involved. 

We deplore the arrogant attempt by BirdLife Malta and their parent organization and partners to intimidate the Maltese Prime Minister, Dr. Lawrence Gonzi. We trust that Dr Gonzi will rise to the occasion and resist this unjust pressure from an organization that plainly considers itself to be above the law. This time, the Maltese government has the backing of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), as well as the total support of the hunting organizations and all the law-abiding hunters and their families.

Brussels (21 January 2010) –  Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) lack resources and language skills to obtain information on standards in China. This will be made easier with an upgraded Standardisation Information Platform agreed on 20 January 2010 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Brussels.
