Flying 2.0? ENISA launches study on future challenges of Internet of Things/RFID in air travel

Following up on European Commission  communication on IoT Action Plan for Europe, the EU’s ‘cyber security’ Agency ENISA - The European Network and Information Security Agency, has analysed the risks associated with a future air travel scenario, enabled with “Internet of things”, IoT / RFID technology. The report identifies major security risks, as well as privacy, social and legal implications and also makes concrete policy and research and legal, recommendations.

Hungary: Viktor Orbán to become 14th EPP PM in the European Union

Brussels, 12 Brussels 2010

The leader of Fidesz and Vice President of the European People’s Party (EPP), Viktor Orbán, has scored a landslide result in the first round of parliamentary elections in Hungary. Fidesz received a whopping 53%, an unprecedented result in the history of democratic Hungary. EPP President Wilfried Martens personally congratulated Orbán last night for the result and after the second round in two weeks, he’s set to become EPP’s 14th EU Prime Minister.

Focussing on the female vote in European elections

This week the European Parliament's Women's rights committee discussed the findings and implications of a Eurobarometer survey entitled "Women and EU: Attitudes, Engagement and Information". It shows that the EU is still lacking a human face, wider participation, a better image and better coverage of women in politics. Liberal and Democrat MEPs concluded that women's concerns deserve much more attention, and not just a few months before elections take place.

Early REACH registration for nickel metal and nickel sulphate

Brussels, Belgium, 8 April 2010

The Nickel Institute today announced the successful REACH registration of nickel metal and nickel sulphate, eight months before the registration deadline.

The two extremely large dossiers, that include a host of references and chemical safety reports for both nickel metal and nickel sulphate, were successfully submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) at the end of March 2010, well before the deadline of 1 December 2010.
