Today EuropaBio hosts a high-level workshop on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) at the
International BIO Conference in Chicago.

HTA is the process of assessing the value of medical technologies on the basis of which
governments take decisions on whether to grant patient access to them. The EuropaBio
workshop will bring together high level policy makers and industry specialists from across Europe

This afternoon, in a meeting of the Parliament's Internal Market and Consumers Affairs Committee (IMCO), former Commissioner Prof. Mario MONTI, presented his report "New strategy to relaunch the Single Market". Liberals and Democrats welcome Monti's report in both his observations and in many of his proposals.

The agreement reached early this morning involving all the EU Institutions to give a robust and sustainable framework for monetary union, is welcome news for the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe who since the beginning of the crisis have argued for a European solution.

CEEP welcomes the work by the Reflection group and the attempt to look to the long term ofEurope 2030 challenges. However, “We are disappointed to find that in the reflectiongroup’s opinion, the Europe 2030 horizon should still be driven by the ‘market mantra’ andnot by the citizens’ needs”, CEEP General Secretary Ralf Resch explained today.
