ERF expresses its satisfaction with the Grosch Report on the Future of Transport

The ERF would like to express its support to the opinion of the European Parliament on the Future of Transport and in particular, its strong commitment to a policy of co-modality, which seeks to optimise the synergies between the various modes on the basis of equal treatment.  The report was adopted last week during the Plenary Session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Vehicle production picks up compared to low 2009 levels

 Brussels 9/07/2010 - Car production and demand in the EU rebounded in the
first  months of 2010 compared to the very low levels of 2009. The trend,
however,  slowed  as  the  year  progressed  and  the impact of temporary
factors faded. Contrary to passenger cars, production of heavy trucks was
still down in the first quarter of 2010.

Parliament gives green light to new, improved data sharing agreement with USA

Today the European Parliament finally gave its green light to the recommendation on a new EU-US Financial Messaging Data Agreement in which the Liberal and Democrat group played an instrumental role in steering it through Parliament and ensuring that personal data privacy is better protected. 484 MEPs in favour, 109 against, 12 abstentions

"Absurd and unconstitutional" SWIFT deal to face ECJ challenge

Deploring the European Parliament's approval of the EU-US financial data agreement (SWIFT), as "a violation of the fundamental rights of innocent Europeans", GUE/NGL MEP Rui Tavares said that the content of the agreement essentially remained the same since MEPs rejected it five months ago and vowed to challenge the deal in the European Court of Justice.
