ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has announced that health sector management consultant Martin Turner FCCA is ACCA’s President for 2013 / 14.
The global professional body for accountants has also appointed Anthony Harbinson FCCA as its Deputy President and Alexandra Chin FCCA as its Vice President.
Martin Turner commented: “My focus for my presidential year will be to work with ACCA’s Council and staff to ensure the organisation continues to deliver on its strategic aims in a challenging climate.
“I will also focus on work that promotes and discusses global standards, looking at governance, ethics, sustainability, corporate reporting and audit amongst others. ACCA wants to see the adoption of consistent global standards as they are needed for economic and financial certainty, to build and maintain investor confidence and they are needed to build and sustain trust.
“Trust is an important part of my work as President and ACCA ambassador. ACCA believes that the profession has a vital role in building and maintaining trust.”
Mr Turner qualified with ACCA in 1976 and became a Fellow of ACCA (FCCA) in 1981. He is currently a freelance management consultant, advising the health sector in countries including Iraq, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Serbia.
