EurActiv, the European media network, recently established partnerships in Croatia, Montenegro and Iceland. These three new partnerships are the latest extension to EurActiv’s partner network that already covered 15 European capitals and provided coverage in 15 languages. Together with Turkey and Serbia (potential candidate) this means that EurActiv is now present in most potential enlargement countries.

In Croatia, EurActiv takes as syndication partner Lider Press, the Business weekly and online media that was established in Zagreb (www.liderpress.hr). Branko Baričević, Ambassador and Head of the Mission of Croatia to the EU, welcomes EurActiv going to Croatia. “This is one more confirmation that Croatia is seen to be ready for accession into the European Union. We are confident that EurActiv’s coming to Croatia and its in-depth reporting will add positively to the understanding of Croatia’s integration into the EU.”

In Montenegro, EurActiv is teaming up with online media Portal Analitika (www.portalanalitika.me). “We welcome the fact that EurActiv, the specialist media in European affairs, will now also be available in Montenegro” stated Igor Luksic, Prime Minister of Montenegro. “EurActiv has over a decade of experience in specialized reporting on EU news and policymaking and we’re happy to see that they are now also reaching out to the Montenegrin citizens.”

Eyjan, Icelandic for “The island” and our partner in Iceland, is an independent online media established in Reykjavik (www.eyjan.is). The EU has been increasingly subject of debate among the Icelandic people over the last couple of years. "We welcome the interest of EurActiv in the discussions in Iceland on the EU," said Thórir Ibsen, Ambassador and Head of the Mission of Iceland to the EU.  "Balanced reporting and accurate expert information on the EU are very important. EurActiv will help in bringing the facts and figures necessary for an informed discussion."

“The success of the EurActiv formula leads us to reach out into three new markets”, announced Dan Luca, EurActiv’s Network Director. “EurActiv combines balanced and free-of-charge reporting on EU news and policy debates with a series of sustainable tools for professionals also interested in EU affairs. This allows us to team up with three more independent online media in Croatia, Montenegro and Iceland and is extending our CrossLingual network.” “Already before 2004, our network was ahead of EU enlargement, with a presence in 6 Central European countries” added Christophe Leclercq, Publisher and Founder of EurActiv. “The first journalist I ever hired was focusing on enlargement. We maintain our lead in this field.”
