Wilfried Martens expresses deep sorrow about the loss of Dr. Peter Weilemann

The President of the Centre for European Studies, Wilfried Martens, expressed his deep sorrow about the loss of Dr. Peter Weilemann who passed away last night.

Peter Weilemann was the Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Brussels, and a founding member and a member of the Executive Board of the Centre for European Studies, the official think tank of the EPP.

“Peter Weilemann was not only one of the most active members of the Executive Board of the CES, inspiring us with his political vision and experience, but also sincerely loved and respected intellectual in our think tank. He had a crucial role in the founding of the CES and was deeply committed to the future of our foundation. The CES team and the whole EPP family are affected by this loss and we offer our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his family and friends” President Martens stated.

Peter Weilemann was also a dedicated member of the German Council on Foreign Relations, Political Science Association, the Commissions on European Policy and on Foreign Security Policy of the Christian Democratic Union.

His active contribution and participation in the work of the Centre for European Studies and his engagement in the political thought of the Centre Right will be remembered and deeply missed.
