The Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP) technology was the insulation solution chosen by a team of architects wishing to refurbish their high-value historical office space located in Kensington, London.

Seen the high cost of the building’s floor space and the fact that the exterior façade of the building could not be altered, the insulation material had to meet demanding requirements: excellent thermal performance and minimum thickness.

With a thermal conductivity value of 0.0038W/mK (Design value 0.007W/mK), VIPs offer high levels of insulation performance and slim design. VIPs  are up to a 5 times thinner than traditional PUR insulations. By using VIPs, Studio Indigo kept the façade of their building intact and gained 4.2m2 of high-value floor space.

Stuart Elliot, Operations Manager at Kevothermal and board member of VIPA, said, “We are glad to see that architects increasingly start to see the value of using VIPs in their renovation projects. When confronted with questions such as how to make a period property more thermal efficient without losing on space and without changing its façade, VIPs is the answer. We were very pleased to support Studio Indigo in this endeavour.”
