Dear correspondents,
11 March 2014 will mark the third anniversary of the Fukushima tsunami and nuclear disaster. Although the accident might now seem distant, the situation in Japan is still far from being under control.
In view of this, it would be useful to take stock of the current situation. What is the situation today in Japan as well as in the European Union? How are people today coping with the aftermath of the catastrophe? Will the EU fulfil its responsibilities in Japan and has it drawn any conclusions concerning its own energy supply?
Rebecca Harms, President of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament will be holding a background briefing press breakfast to respond to these and other questions on Thursday 6 March at 8.30 in the Members' restaurant.
We would be grateful if you could let us know whether you plan to attend by Wednesday 5 March at 13.00.
Kind regards,
Ruth Reichstein and Helmut Weixler
