The S&D Group condemns the speech given by the Palestinian president, in which he made unacceptable remarks concerning the origins of the Holocaust.

 

 

“Denying or relativising the Holocaust, a horrendous crime in human history which will never be forgotten, is unacceptable and cannot be justified. The reported words of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his speech this Monday crossed this red line, which we strongly condemn. We continue to call for the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which can only be achieved through mutual respect for the past, and political engagement for the future, on both sides. His words play at the hands of the enemies of peace
