The main aim of the QUALITOP project is to develop a European immunotherapy-specific open Smart Digital Platform for personalized prevention and patient management. The use of big data analysis, artificial intelligence and simulation modelling approaches will enable collecting efficiently real-world data to monitor health status and the quality of life of cancer patients given immunotherapy. The project, which is part of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, will have a duration of 4 years (2020-2024).

Although cancer immunotherapy has significantly helped to advance in the field of cancer treatment, some challenges remain. QUALITOP aims at tackling one of the biggest challenges in patient care – the lack of real-life data on patients starting treatment, beyond clinical trials. The use of an immunotherapy-specific open Smart Digital Platform and taking into account lifestyle, genetic, and psychosocial elements into a patient’s quality of life.

To address these problems, the EU-funded QUALITOP platform will:

  • Provide information about the patients’ health status
  • Define patient profiles in a real-world context
  • Provide real-time recommendations

To this end, several clinical centres from different EU member states together with the coordination of Hospices Civils de Lyon (France) will collect the specific data in regard to lifestyle, genetic, and psychosocial determinants of quality of life. Thus, QUALITOP will enable a better monitoring of the health and quality of life in cancer patients who arereceiving immunotherapy.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 875171.
