The European Parliament in Strasbourg has today adopted, by a large majority, an urgency resolution on the situation in Pakistan following the devastating terrorist attack in Lahore on the 27th March 2016, which caused the death of over 73 people and injured over 300, including many women and children.
The resolution strongly condemns the brutal massacre in Lahore and offers support to Pakistan in its fight against terrorism, while calling for more to be done to win the long term battle against radicalisation.

''The Lahore attacks were a vicious and despicable assault on the people of Pakistan. Today, the European Parliament sends its deepest condolences and support to all those who lost loved ones, the hundreds injured and their families.''

''It is imperative that the EU HR High Representative Federica Mogherini continues to fully engage with the Government of Pakistan to tackle the threat posed by terrorism and to further assist the Pakistan Government with their continuing efforts to eradicate terrorism.''

''I hope to work closely with the European Commission to look into what support the European Union could provide to help deliver improvements."
