Leading international law firm DLA Piper today announced that Orestis Omran joined the firm to give further shape to the Brussels based EU-Greek Practice.

Orestis joined DLA Piper as a Counsel and member of the EU Regulatory team, strengthening the firm's EU Law and international transactional capacities in Brussels. Orestis is qualified to practice in Athens, New York and Brussels and brings extensive EU regulatory experience, including - but not limited - to energy, privacy and financial services.  He has a unique knowledge of the Greek business and political environment and combines this with a deep knowledge and understanding of EU Law and the wider international legal market. Orestis brings a vast network of contacts in the public and private sectors, in Greece as well as in Brussels.

Orestis will head the Brussels based EU-Greek Practice of the firm, which covers the full cycle of practice areas relevant to clients doing business with, in and from Greece. These include EU regulatory, competition & antitrust, corporate, banking, finance,  restructuring and insolvency.

Together with DLA Piper's dedicated EU Government Affairs team, the EU-Greek Practice is in a unique position to represent the interests of Greek clients at the law- and policy-making levels of the EU Institutions in Brussels.

As Greece approaches the end of the Third Economic Adjustment Program in August 2018, opportunities for international investors are considerably increasing. Privatizations, Non-Performing Loans, Private Public Partnerships and high level corporate transactions are only some of the areas in which our clients will now be able to benefit from the firm's expertise and experience in the combined EU and Greek markets.

Before joining DLA Piper, Orestis was a Counsel at another law firm in Brussels where he developed his Greek market focus. He had previously worked for the Legal Service of the European Commission.

Orestis is often invited as a speaker in business and legal conferences in Europe and the U.S.. He also serves as a guest lecturer in universities in Europe and the U.S., mainly on issues of comparative campaign finance law, sovereign debt restructuring and constitutional law.
