The LINQ and EIF Conference Committee will host a preconference workshop regarding the Open Discovery Space (ODS) Project’s astonishing efforts in school modernization throughout Europe. The ODS Project Consortium will address teachers, school authorities, and policy makers in a series of interactive sessions to facilitate discussion concerning new methods of teaching and learning. The workshop in Crete will be opened by Athanassios Kyriazis, the General Secretary of the Greek Ministry of Education, on May 7, 2014 at 10:30 am, one day before the official start of LINQ and EIF 2014. The full programme is available online (www.learning-innovations.eu/2014/pre-conference), including many best practice cases.
ODS is the premiere European research project for technology-enhanced learning and has established a single, integrated access point for e-Learning resources from diverse educational repositories (www.opendiscoveryspace.eu). This multilingual portal also encourages the creation of new e-Learning resources and enables assessment regarding their impact in European education. Furthermore, ODS has proposed an innovative educational metadata organisation scheme, supporting the uptake of eLearning materials in Europe.
ODS will present their valuable experiences through this preconference workshop and set the stage for LINQ and EIF 2014 on May 8 and 9, 2014. A selection of papers and projects from the leading edge of research in the conference fields will be supplemented by prominent conference keynotes, including Pat Manson from the European Commission, Vijay Kumar of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Zhu Zhiting of the ECNU Shanghai, and June Breivik of the BI Norwegian Business School, among others.
Registration for LINQ 2014 and EIF 2014 as well as the preconference workshop is still available at www.efquel.org/eiflinq-registration. The ODS European Workshop on Opening Up Education in Schools will take place simultaneously with the preconference European Seminar on Excellence in ICT Enhanced Higher Education. This alternative preconference seminar is organised by the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU), the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), and the European Foundation for Quality in e-Learning (EFQUEL).
This year, LINQ, the international conference on Learning Innovations and Quality, has joined forces with EIF, the EFQUEL Innovation Forum, to establish a common community of experts passionate for quality development in the quickly expanding field of technology-enhanced learning. Together, EIF and LINQ have set out to inspire innovation in open educational resources and effective methods of managing the quality of said resources.
