Mr Pérez will lead a Board whose small size and “CEOs only” composition represents a dramatic change in the governance of the Confederation.

Brussels, 16 July 2009 - CIAA’s Board of Directors today elected Jesús Serafín Pérez, the CEO of mid-sized Spanish company Fuensanta, as CIAA President.

Mr Pérez, a trained economist and chartered accountant, has been active in the food and beverage industry for over 30 years. His distinguished career has included many high level appointments such as the President of, amongst
others, the Expobebidas exhibition, the Asturian Exporters Association, the National Association of Bottled Water Companies, and the European and International Union of Spring and Mineral Waters. Mr Pérez is also the current
President of the Federación Española de Industrias de Alimentación y Bebidas (FIAB – the Spanish Food
and Drink Federation) and vice-President of the Confederación Española de Organizaciones empresariales (CEOE - the Spanish Employers Confederation). An active member of numerous boards and executive committees in Spain and abroad, Mr. Pérez is also a proud holder of the Order of Food Merit by Spain’s King Juan Carlos and the Gold Medal of the Council of Spanish Chambers of
Commerce.

Speaking after his election, Mr Pérez thanked his predecessor, three-term President, Jean Martin. “Under
Jean’s stewardship, the CIAA has grown and thrived as a highly respected, credible and fully representative body. Thanks to his tireless dedication, European decision-makers understand our positions better. It is a source of great pride for me to follow in such illustrious footsteps.”

Mr Pérez is the first President in the association’s history to come from a medium-sized enterprise, thus
bringing a new perspective to the CIAA’s leadership. He will lead a newly elected Board of 17 eminent
business leaders, each of them coming from a European or global leader company, of which 5 are SMEs.

By reducing its Board’s size and by drawing its members exclusively from the top ranks of the food and
drinks industry, the CIAA will gain in nimbleness and efficiency, allowing it to better serve the needs of
Europe’s largest manufacturing sector.

“I look forward to leading this invigorated association as it deals with the great challenges of the coming
years though a constructive dialogue with the European institutions”, Mr Pérez said. “We must make
good use of our strengths, enhancing and promoting the cultural and social values of the agri-food sector.
We are an industry which is extremely rich and diverse, deeply rooted in local traditions and culture, and
as such, we must do everything possible to ensure that Europe’s food and drink industry continues to be
the world’s most competitive”.

The composition of the new CIAA Board, elected for 3 years, is as follows:

Mr Zein Abdalla, President, PepsiCo Europe
