Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei Meets King Philippe of Belgium

[Shenzhen, China, June 29, 2015] Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei met with King Philippe of Belgium at the company's headquarters in Shenzhen, China on June 27. King Phillipe led a delegation of government officials and entrepreneurs from Belgium. In addition to visits to the company's exhibition hall and R&D labs, both parties had an in-depth discussion on how Huawei can contribute to Belgium's digital agenda.

As ICT technologies evolve at a fast pace, digitization has become a key growth engine for various industries. To contribute to Belgium's digital agenda, Huawei has collaborated with its Belgian partners to provide local customers with innovative products and services, which have benefited both parties. Huawei has also set up three silicon photonics and software R&D facilities in Belgium, and based its European Research Institute in Leuven. The company's global platform helps bring technological innovations and successful experience from Belgium to other parts of the world. To allow all Belgian people to benefit from a digital economy, Huawei works with Belgian universities to transfer ICT knowledge and skills to young people.

Huawei began its operations in Belgium in 2007. Alongside local operators, it now serves over 11 million Belgian users. With five offices in Brussels, Leuven, Ghent, and Louvain-la-Neuve, Huawei currently employs nearly 200 staff in Belgium, 80% of whom are local hires.
