HOPE is particularly enthusiastic on the occasion of the launch of the European Union Network for Patient Safety project (EUNetPaS). HOPE believes the project, to be funded by the European Commission, will significantly contribute to the improvement of Safety for Patients all over the European Union.

The general aim of this 30 months project is to establish an umbrella network of all 27 EU Member States and EU stakeholders to encourage and enhance collaboration in the field of Patient Safety.

In this project coordinated by the French National Authority for Health, HOPE will play a major role as a leader of a work package devoted to improve medication safety in hospitals by the transfer of good practices.

The work will be based on collaboration between a core group composed of three Member States and four EU Stakeholders, and in the following stage with seven or more Member States involved in the field implementation.

With HOPE as the leader, hospital pharmacists (EAHP), community pharmacists (PGEU), nurses (EFN) will join in this challenge the ministries of health of Finland, Belgium and Austria, with the assistance of the university of Linz.

The collection of good practices on medication safety has already started. They will be selected and “translated” so that they could be transferred, taking into account the diversity of context in which healthcare systems are working.
