REHVA together with VELUX Group, the primary partner and sponsor, are pleased to announce the launch of the Healthy Homes Design Competition. This brand new initiative aims at stimulatingthe minds of young and future engineers to identify solutions how to realize healthy homes.

As urban population in our major cities is rapidly growing and the demand of dwellings is significantly increasing, an urgent need to reduce the impact buildings have both on their occupants and on our planet is raising.

Starting exactly from this well-recognized issue among both practitioners and researchers, the Healthy Homes Design Competition wants to encourage and challenge to explore the theme of healthy living – and to create a deeper understanding of indoor environmental qualities as well as exploring the impact of future climate changes.

Residential buildings are more and more equipped with advanced building service systems that promote health and energy-efficiency; that is a major reason why REHVA decided to join forces with the Velux group and organize this healthy homes design competition.”, dr. ir. Atze Boerstra feelgood building specialist, bba managing director & vice-president REHVA

Addressed to students and young professionals working within the field of building and buildings service systems, operation and construction, the competition calls for projects with focus on people’s health and indoor climate solutions in their living environments.

“Since 1942 VELUX Group have worked on developing products that will improve the quality of people’s life. We believe it is key to continue to develop innovative products and solution. We want to inspire young minds to develop a healthy future”Tina Mayn, Senior Vice President Products, VELUX Group.

All the projects will be reviewed by an international jury composed of experts in the sector and according to the timeline, a shortlist of nominees will present their project at the CLIMA 2022 conference in Rotterdam, in mid May 2022.
