The global high-tech industry welcomes the WTO action announced by the United States and Japan regarding the European Union’s (EU) apparent failure to abide by its commitments under the WTO Information Technology Agreement (ITA). We hope that as a result, the European Commission will come into compliance with its trade obligations, providing duty-free treatment to high-tech products as committed to under this important Agreement. This coalition of high-tech industry ssociations from around the world is not interested in advancing trade cases for their own sake, but it is interested in promoting free trade and innovation.
